There’s Flickr, and then there’s Mesa #1

This is a reality series. Looking at Flickr, especially Good Flickr, you get an altered sense of reality. Most of life however is not spent surrounded by pretty scenary or models.
These pictures were taken while driving west on Broadway Ave in Mesa, Arizona. Mesa is the 3rd largest town in Arizona (447,000), slightly behind Tucson (519,000) and about 1/3rd the size of Phoenix (1.5M). It is the 38th largest city in the U.S., bigger than Kansas City, Cleveland, Miami, Oakland, Tulsa, Honolulu, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, Colorado Springs. It was founded by Mormons and that still makes up its core.
I set up the tripod on the passenger side and just blindly pushed the release button as I drove. It sounds dangerous, but I swear I never looked at the camera!
It’s not pretty, but it’s Mesa.

You’re definately right…most of the sites we see daily aren’t colorful and beautiful like the images we see on Flickr. This reality series is great.

I guess everything is seen in a different light! Some may think your reality series was ugly or not beautiful. I didn’t. It’s only ugly if you chose to see it that way. There were homes people lived in, they may not have been expensive homes, but you don’t know what was inside or what the people were like that lived in them, poor is not a bad thing. There were beautifl skies, everything looked clean, it’s just a different life style and I bet if you stopped, you could have found just as much beauty there as you do in your own yard, just in different places! This is just my perspective!
