Mexico Video Slideshow
These are seven photos that I took while on a recent trip to Mexico. Now that Flickr has video I decided to use the opportunity to add music and some movement to the photos. This is my first video attempt so there are a few rough spots. For example, the music ends abruptly at the end. Feel free to leave a comment on what you think.

Few comments for you then!
The sharpness changes from shot one to shot two which I presume would be because of image recompression as you embed the photos into the video, or if you’re using something like Apple’s Motion to do the movements across your photos it could be the settings for that, and I’d be tempted to try and fade between the shots instead of a straight cut as it makes it seem quite abrupt. And last thing would be that given the very high standard of shots in the clip, the font used on the front slide is very non-contemporary cool in design terms and takes the shine off somewhat. There are a million cool fonts you could use, but even stuff such as Ariel, Verdana or Helvetica, dead simple stuff like that will give your clip a more stylish look.
Hope that helps. The photos rock!
Oh and it’d help to know what you’re editing your video with.
@manipula: Thanks so much for your comments, very constructive and I will certainly try to incorporate your comments on future video attempts. You are very observant, the second photo had been cropped down from a much larger image while I edited it in Photoshop, therefore the resolution of the photo suffers when it was zoomed in during the video. I have also made a mental note on the use of fonts, going forward I will definitely be more aware of how they can negatively impact the overall presentation. Finally, I am embarrassed to admit that I put this together in iMovie 08. I have Final Cut, but haven’t taken the time to learn it yet.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, they were very helpful.
Nothing wrong with iMovie. Many first year media/film students get lectured using it, it’s only when you need to get more advanced you’ll need the added power and control of Final Cut. And no probs on the comments, you asked, I gave, simple as that!
This is very cool Jerry. Don should be using that opening frame in his promotional materials.
What? You have to learn Final Cut? That’s not what I heard.
Awsome! what camera were u using?
@texaslight: all the shots were taken with my digital SLR, a Canon 5D with various lenses. I then compiled the still shots into iMovie ’08.
Very nice. I will be going on that workshop this september!!!! i’m way excited
